Question

What's the worst skin treatment?

There is lots of marketing of the "best skin treatment" for skin rejuvenating. What about the "worst skin treatment"?  Would like to avoid these!

Right Treatment in the Wrong Hands

The biggest problem is nonqualified or inexperienced people performing sophisticated skin rejuvenation treatments. Also, the use of good techniques for the wrong purposes is a common problem.

Some older procedures like dermabrasion have been replaced with better techniques.

The "worst" treatment is one that does not meet patient's goals

This one question is difficult to answer. However, I would venture to say that the "worst" treatment would be one that did not meet the patient's goals or resulted in a negative outcome or reaction.

A better question may be, "How do I avoid getting a bad skin rejuvenation treatment?"

Keep in mind that as a consumer, it is your responsibility to do research and ask the right questions. Your appearance will always be an investment that deserves the best outcomes. Not all treatment modalities are safe or appropriate for your skin type or skin care goals. Be very clear to the practitioner what your goals are and make certain that this person addresses all of your questions in a clear manner. As the old saying goes..."If it sounds too good to be true..."

Be an educated consumer. This website is a good place to start.

The right training is crucial

I think there are things too aggressive or for the wrong skin types or in the wrong hands. Lasers in the wrong hands. People who are getting ripped off because they are getting not enough, because there are aesthetic type of lasers that are not strong enough, they don’t have enough wattage, don’t have operators using them that are medical professionals, and they don’t know how to use them. They’ve simply had some laser representative training but they're not a medical professional. So they really don’t know what they are doing and the physics behind it. They don’t know what their true goal is and how to get their best results. I think that’s really it.
