Simple ways to accentuate facial features

  • Play up one facial feature. If you’re going for dramatic eyes, use a neutral, subtle lip color or a light gloss so your features aren’t competing with each other. If you are going for the classic bright red lip, keep your eye make-up minimal and sophisticated.
  • Opposites Attract. Basic color theory of complementary colors applies to your eye make-up too! Blue eyes can pop with coppery, sandy, and coral oranges while green eyes can sparkle with reds and plums. Bring out the golden flecks in brown eyes with purples and heathers.
  • Use your brows for balance. Well groomed eyebrows that have been shaped to accentuate your facial features and structure can give your face poise and balance like nothing else. If you don’t want to wing it, get professional help, buy a good eyebrow book that can walk you through the process of selecting your perfect shape. There are also many eyebrow kits available today that can help you shape your eyebrows at home.
  • Keep your pearlies white. Most public interaction you have will involve talking. If your teeth aren’t as white as they can be all attention will focused on your teeth - and not in a good way! Any effort you have made with make-up to create the perfect look will be totally thwarted by your not-so-white teeth. Get your teeth regularly cleaned (every 6 months), pay attention to your oral hygiene on a daily basis and floss. If you need a little extra help most dentists can now help you achieve a smile that looks healthy, white and compliments all the effort you put into your make-up and clothes.
